Artist’s Statement of Judith C. Busby

The Punch Line, Fiber Artists @ Loose Ends, 2009

Title: Thanks, Miracle Grow!

Being an artist and a kindergarten teacher for many years helps me visualize a humorous situation involving a character from a fairy tale! Using acrylic paints, I painted a “Rose Red” woman who is passionate about flowers. Magically, the flowers grow to huge proportions and she is able to dance in a garden of giant blooms! As she realizes her wish has come true, she says, “Thanks, Miracle Grow!”
Inspired by the thought of large, fragrant flowers, I incorporate the joy of an answered wish with the reality of Miracle Grow that enhances growth in our own flower gardens.
